Experience
I have an undergraduate degree in mathematics and graduate degrees from Texas Southern University in mathematics and education. Currently, I work full time as a faculty member at San Jacinto College District. I teach introductory and intermediate algebra. My teaching career spans 20 years in the school districts, teaching math to high school and middle school students. Part of my school curricula includes courses in math and math models for students in the sixth grade. I have a keen interest in algebra at all levels, and can also tutor elementary math, geometry, and statistics. It gives me great pleasure to delve into the origins of algebraic equations and their functions. Teaching math was a goal of mine ever since I can remember back in junior high. I remember well wonderful math teachers that became role models to me. I have learned to work with those who find math challenging. It is a particular skill I have honed, and I have seen students who did not like math become highly motivated to learn more. It is very gratifying to be successful in my teaching career. In addition to teaching, I like to travel, enjoy cooking, and going to the movies.
